A Catholic friend was once disturbed by his parish priest’s demand that parishioners honour their tithes. This friend called tithing “uncatholic” and a practice borrowed from Pentecostals. He demanded to know where in the Bible God instructs him to pay tithe, and when I pointed out the scriptures, he was shocked, but not convinced.
