MACON COUNTY, N.C. — Macon County investigators no longer believe arson was behind
They burned in a parking lot at Community Bible Church near Highlands about 2 a.m. Saturday morning. “The 15-passenger van was rolling very good,” says Highlands Fire Chief Ryan Gearhart. The sheriff's office initially investigated the fire as an arson case.
