The plane, which was en route to a naval facility in California from North Carolina, crashed into a soybean field after a mid-air explosion. Officials told The New York Times that the cause of the blast is under investigation. Snowden, or “Sno” as his friends called him, was born in Abilene and raised in the Dallas area.
