A NEWPORT church has bought the former Avana Bakeries building and plans to use it to host charities and community events. The business, based on Wern Industrial Estate, in Rogerstone, closed in January, with 100 job losses - as the Argus previously reported. It had entered difficulties after losing a major contract with Marks and Spencer in 2014.
