Life after death |
![]() The Bible tells us there is only one way into Heaven. That has to be secured before we die. No one knows or wants to know when that will be. What do you have to do to get there? First, you need to decide to turn from all that is wrong in your life. The Bible calls this sin and the process of turning away from it is called repentance. There is no difference for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans Chapter verse 22-23 in the Bible). Can you say to God that you are as sinless as he is? Secondly, you would have to make a personal commitment to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. You need to believe that he died for YOU personally and that he rose again from the dead. "That if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved." (Romans10v9) This must happen if you are to have a relationship with him. "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, Jesus Christ, that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have overlasting life" (John 3v16). Can you say and mean this? ![]() Then, if you are not already in one, please join a church where the Bible is taught and those teachings supported. Worship God and try to obey his teaching. Ideally arrange to be baptised by having your body immersed in water. You must repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins: and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2v38) Tell others what you have done and why. The process by which a person becomes a believer in Jesus Christ (a Christian) is called Salvation. The message as to how this is achieved is, of course, the same. Different people come to this point in different ways. Here is my story. I used to read material like this but had a major problem with it-I could not and would not believe that it was true. I had been someone who did not believe in God at all and struggled with accepting anything in the Bible. I became a Christian in June 1987 after a series of events that did convince me that this message is true. Before that I thought:
In February 1987 I began to feel like I could not breathe. But the doctor could find nothing wrong. On the last Friday evening of April that year, I met with three Christian friends to pray (speak to God). Then the young woman in the group began to say things about which only I knew. She said: You did not choose me, I chose you Salvation comes by faith not works The only thing you will ever have to boast about is that it is I and I alone who have saved you I was overwhelmed. I gasped: “It’s true!” There is a God and he knows exactly what each of us thinks, says and does! To him we are totally transparent and that is how he is able to know everything about each of us, including whether or not we have a relationship with him. Then it happened! There was a violent rushing wind from above. It seemed to take up all the space in the room. It went through my ears and into me but no damage was done. My whole body was filled with this powerful but gentle wind. I could breathe properly again. There was no wind outside. The doors and windows were closed. There was no draught within the room. It was like a scene out of Pentecost! Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. (Acts 2v2) Pentecost only happened because Jesus lived, died and rose again. This experience was like a repetition of this. It convinced me that everything that Jesus said and did was true. My commitment to him was made shortly afterwards. Even if you do not believe me ask God to reveal himself and his truth to you.
