French hostage freed in Mali arrives home in France
But the homecoming was muted by the announcement later Friday that a Swiss woman held captive by the same extremist group had been killed. The Swiss foreign ministry didn't name the woman or provide more details other than to say she was killed about a month ago.

Hurricane Delta lashes Louisiana Gulf Coast
1:00 p.m. CT. Hurricane Delta is a Category 3 storm spinning off the Gulf Coast near Louisiana. Its outer bands have already begun lashing the coastal areas of the state. Delta's center is currently located about 95 miles south-southwest of Cameron, Louisiana, moving north at 13 mph.

Grants worth more than £10m to aid UK churches in wake of Covid-19
The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England have awarded grants amounting to 10.7m for churches who are struggling as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Church of England says that the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage will provide 16 cathedrals and 50 parish churches with grants to cover lost income.

Gusts up to 60 mph will be possible with the system, which can cause tree damage and power outages. Heavy rain will lead to flash flooding and minor to major river flooding in parts of Louisiana. Rainfall amounts between 5-10 inches will be possible for coastal areas, and isolated areas could see up to 15 inches.
