PROVIDENCE Joan Neary was 7 when she met Bill Hoyle, 10. An East Side girl, she was visiting her aunt in Mount Pleasant, and he lived two doors down. It was 1942. After that, she was happy to visit her aunt anytime. She looked for the boy at the pool in Davis Park, which was bigger then, before the new VA Medical Center was built.
