Many Pacific jurisdictions have thrown up barriers to the new coronavirus. In late January the Federated States of Micronesia banned entry to travellers from countries with confirmed cases. The Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea ( PNG ), Tonga and Vanuatu have banned cruise ships.

Iran's coronavirus death toll tops 1,500; Bondi Beach closed as distancing rules ignored
In Iran, the total number of confirmed cases now stands at 20,610, as the death toll reaches 1,556, a health ministry spokesman said on Saturday, Reuters reported. Kentucky coronavirus live updates: State sees third death, 86 total cases
Kentucky has suffered its third death from COVID-19, Gov. Andy Beshear announced at a press conference on Saturday. The deceased was a 67-year-old man from Anderson County. The state now has 87 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, Beshear said Saturday. That number includes a 33-year-old who tested positive in Kentucky but lives out of state.
