Boris Johnson has visited Westminster Abbey to pay respects to fallen soldiers ahead of the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. Lawyers for the church have said that during the service, those who attended maintained social distancing and had extensive sanitizing of common surfaces. The church said attendees had to stay 6 feet (2 meters) apart and use hand sanitizer before entering the building.

Boris Johnson hails Britain's 'greatest generation' as he thanks WWII veterans on VE Day
In a letter to mark today’s 75th anniversary of VE Day, the Prime Minister expressed his “sincere thanks” for their service in the struggle against Nazi tyranny. He also urged Britons to show the “same spirit of national endeavour” as the war generation in the current battle against coronavirus.
