Selma Esther Ryan, grandmother Selma Esther Ryan with her great-grandchildren. Texas native Selma Esther Ryan died of coronavirus complications on April 14, more than a century after her older sister died in the Spanish Flu pandemic at age 5. Ryan had just turned 96 on April 11.

A Boise church ‘repents’ and will remove stained-glass window of Confederate General Robert E. Lee
BOISE ( Idaho Statesman ) — One of Boise’s largest churches is removing a controversial reminder of Idaho’s connections to the Confederacy — a stained-glass window featuring Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The Cathedral of the Rockies installed stained-glass windows for its then-new building in downtown Boise in 1960.

The Latest: New effort to drop 'Plantations' from R.I. name
House Speaker Adrienne Jones renewed her push to have the plaque removed in a letter Thursday. Last year, a four-member panel that oversees the Capitol and its grounds voted to cover a logo from the sign showing the U.S. and Confederate flags crossed. It was covered with an image of the Maryland state flag, but the sign remained after a 3-1 vote.
