BBC HORROR: Brexiteer who wants licence fee AXED poised to become next chairman A BREXITEER who opposes the licence fee is favourite to become the next chairman of the BBC.
Former newspaper editor Charles Moore, who has been a fierce critic of the corporation over its politically correct bias, is said to be No 10’s choice for the job. The move would infuriate BBC bosses over fears it will lead to the end of compulsory payments to fund it and a radical change in culture.

Westminster Abbey service marks 80th anniversary of Battle of Britain
The 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain was commemorated at Westminster Abbey in the venue's first major service since lockdown. The annual Sunday service usually attracts around 2,000 people to the London landmark as the UK commemorates the first battle in history fought entirely in the air during the Second World War.

Sunnyside fights against being dumped on — again
The city put a 300-acre dump in the neighborhood in 1937. In 1964, the city opened a second dump in Sunnyside. Three years later, a new incinerator on the original dump spewed toxic fumes into the neighborhood. (Price has been asking for an air monitor in Sunnyside for years so people can learn what, exactly, they’re breathing.
