The annual election for the Victorian Bar’s governing council is over and they are still mopping up the blood. Surprise new president Christopher Blanden QC congratulated the Bar’s 2100 practising lawyers on electing “an apolitical and diverse group of barristers”.

CMO warns progress in stamping out Covid has stalled
The Chief Medical Officer's warned that progress in stamping out Covid-19 infections has stalled in the Republic. Dr Tony Holohan says the decline in new case numbers has been slower than forecast in recent days. And after yesterday's 456 positive tests, the average over five days has actually gone up.
