When I was a kid in the late 1980s, the reading material in my house consisted of: our local newspaper, an Irish newspaper and Reader’s Digest, which came only once a month. My favorite section in Reader’s Digest was called “Drama in Real Life” and featured a true story about a life-threatening experience.

Speaking on Radio Ulster's Sunday Sequence programme the singer, who is married to Claire, recalled the moments before the crash.
