Senate leader backs petition drive to repeal 1945 law Whitmer using during COVID crisis
LANSING — Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey said Monday he would not put people at risk by recommending they ignore Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive orders related to the coronavirus, but believes the “number one priority” for Michigan should be a veto-proof citizen’s initiative to repeal 1945 emergency powers under which Whitmer is operating.
