MANILA - There are 6 new deaths due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from the Americas and Europe among overseas Filipinos as of April 6, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs. There are now 535 confirmed cases among Filipino nationals abroad from 34 countries/regions covering the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and Middle East.

Dollar rises against yen as Japan ready to declare state of emergency
The U.S. dollar stalled against most currencies on Monday but continued its rise versus the Japanese yen as the rate of deaths from coronavirus in Europe slowed while deaths in Japan and elsewhere in Asia accelerated. The yen fell, while the Australian and New Zealand dollars, which tend to benefit from sharper risk appetite, rose.
